I had an ex-husband who was addicted to pain pills. He has arthritis and ended up needing to take Hydrocodone quite often. He was taking double the prescribed amount. He was even going to different doctors in order to get new prescriptions as well. He needed help and chose not to get it. Basically he chose the pills over me. He is doing better now, he quit cold turkey, and wants to get back together. I'm not sure I want to go down that road again. Comment #1 mark from marky mark land, canada - I have a friend who abuses all sorts of pills, i would advise you to not take him back... Because you never know if he goes back down that road and many users do from what I have seen. But it is impressive that he quit cold turkey though. How long was he abusing, and how long has he been clean now? Comment #2 Jules from Nebraska - My husband went through the same thing. He was in a really bad car accident about 15 years ago and has had chronic back pain. He has tried everything from chiropractors, physical therapy, etc. He's done everything short of having surgery. He became addicted to pain pills but thank God was able to kick the addiction. He's been clean for about five years now. Comment #3 Poochie from the pound - That goodness some people can kick the habit. Have you seen the generation Rx commercials where they show teens are stealin pills from their parents and grandparents. It is so sad that our children are growing up with that going on. Comment #4 mark from marky mark land, canada - Jules, WAY TO GO for your husband :) It's wonderful when people manage to kick the habit and mantain it for that long :) Comment #5 Loopy from The Big D - My dad and sister both take too many pills to kill the pain. Neither of them are on prescription pain killers. My dad is going through Inerfuron treatments. I don't know if that is spelled correctly. Oops. My sister had a husband that beat her so her head hurts a lot. The both take about 5-6 tylenol at a time. My sister takes 3-4 tylenol PM at a time. I just hope it doesn't end up affecting something like their kidneys. Comment #6 Milly from The Midwest - I'm glad he kicked the habit, but I would definately go into counseling befor you get back together. There are reasons we easily can become addicted to things, whether it is a controlling issue to absuing drugs or alcohol. Sometimes a man will have a controlling issue with his wife and she divorces him and then he remarries, but doesn't treat the new wife that way at all.
