State of mind

Thank author of this post/commentA friend believes that "happiness is nothing but a state of mind", and I have spent some time wondering about this.

What is this happiness we talk about?

Some days I am happy, and some I am not happy. When I am not happy, what am I then!

Not exactly UNhappy, just not exactly happy.

Get my gist?

Then, happinesss IS a state of mind, nothing else.

I can manage that state of mind and mainly just stop paying attention to it. Being happy (satisfied, supportive of people around me, etc.) is what some call "being OK".

The important thing, then, is being "OK".

I think if you make happiness your goal then you'll never be happy. Happiness is not something to be achieve, as Joaquinsa said it is a state of mind.

Be happy in your experiences of the day and then you'll always be happy. Practice when you have to wait in line. You can take two different approaches:

- Being bored and angry for having to wait

- Using the time to relax and enjoy a bit of stress free time to yourself

Now, which do you think involves happiness as a state of mind?

"Same conclusion"

Today I also reached this same conclusion that "happiness is a state of mind and nothing else"

What I was thinking that I have been trying to do different things all my life so that I could be happy someday.......guess what I got a wrong definition of being happy .Its not that you are happy when you achieve something , you can be happy always. Its only you have attached your happiness with achieving something and when you get that you are going to be happy , a completely wrong approach.

Achieving something is a different things .Yes we set goals and get them but we should not associate our happiness with it.

We can be happy always......Its nothing but a state of mind and we should maintain it and not change while we are getting something or not.

Getting something or not is a different process and it has nothing to do wth happiness

I totally agree with you Pramod. Happiness is simply a state of mind. There are a lot of people questioning themselves why they couldn't achieve success. They simply though happiness is for something good you may acquire. A person will never be happy if he has that kind of state of mind. Happiness is around us. It is just a matter of appreciating things around you. Every little thing has a very nice meaning and those little things make a person happy.

It is just a matter of appreciating the things around you, I like this statement. I think people finds it hard to be happy simply because they are not that appreciative of what they have at the moment but thinks of the things that they do not have. Being content on what you have at the moment is something to be happy about. Good day to all and be happy.

Nice thoughts guys! Yes, I agree that happiness is just a state of mind. Alongside with it, positivity must come along. I believe that our thoughts and perception of things mainly depend on how we see them. There are things that may be awfully bad but if we perceive it into something positive, we can still be very happy despite what happened. It's just a matter of seeing things on the brighter side.

Happiness, being a state of mind to some but for me happiness is more than just that phrase. If people would be so scientific and logical, the term happiness would just plainly be a state of mind. Well, we can choose to be happy, of course. But there are some instance when we would be happy and we just cannot control it. Let loose my friends, just be happy and forget about those arguments.
