I never had a problem during my menstural cycle, except lately. It seems that the older I get the more crabby I get. I think what someone had posted about someone being bi-polar be cause of a chemical imbalance is true. The older we get our body changes. I take ST. Johns wart when I start to feel a little down during this time and it truely works!!

I haven't experienced this yet and I am hoping I do NOT. I am a really perky and outgoing person, plus I approach life in a more positive and optimistic way so if ever I experience PMS maybe the unusual signs of physical signs may appear but not the emotional ones.

Also, usually as we tend to grow old we tend to forget the simple things like exercising and being fit. This maybe hard for people who don't usually exercise but I suggest changing your lifestyle for the best. Some try yoga, or aerobics. I regularly work thus making me feel good. When you feel good, you will look good, and everything else will follow.

If a male reader or someone who doesn't know what PMS means, well it stands for PreMenstrual Syndrome which is a syndrome that occurs in many women from 2 to 14 days before the onset of menstruation.

Hi there snow bird.. are you playing golden sun? because your name reminds me of the game..

With the st. john wart that you take, i think the herb actually did not give the relief but the placebo effect of the herb on your body..

Here are few but factual info about PMS

Who experiences PMS?

# PMS is by far the single most frequent complaint of pre menopausal women.

# Almost all women experience PMS at some point in their life.

# Women aged 30-45 years often experience most severe PMS.

# PMS often increases at times of hormonal turbulence, for example, puberty, childbirth, after miscarriage or pregnancy termination or changes in contraception.

# Women who suffered from post natal depression are more prone to PMS.

# Stress increases and worsens the PMS symptoms.

I don't have any PMS but some of my friends have it. They say PMS is due to lack of Zinc in the body and sometimes stress could trigger it.

Two love birds marry then after a few years, they start to claim that there is no love again. Marriage is all about compromise and mutual understanding. Where these lack, then things begin tn go down the drain. It is only the two of you that have a solution around the whole quagmire. We need to know what happened and why things had to end that way. Look for a marriage counsellor because you cannot say to be willing to work things out yet no one is ready to make the big leap

Hehe, we are talking about pre menstrual syndrome and a certain cwemoy posted something about marriage.. Well that was a sudden shift of idea as well as topic dude..

Here is why women suffers from PMS:

Exactly what causes premenstrual syndrome is unknown, but several factors may contribute to the condition. Cyclic changes in hormones seem to be an important cause, because signs and symptoms of premenstrual syndrome change with hormonal fluctuations and also disappear with pregnancy and menopause.

That was a big shift but unintentional too...I meant to leave a comment on some forum on a wife who was having a bipoalr condition but was finding it hard to break free. It seems to me though that the initial post had a mention of the disorder.

Why is PMS pronounced in some women? Could hormonal differences and imbalance be the causes? Or heredity plays a role too?

Well that was an accident. About your question on why PMS is pronounced in some women well it is because of, ofcourse, due to hormonal imbalances i believe.

Hereditary may be another factor to consider if a woman happens to suffer with PMS. However, there are some ways or tips on how to get through this monthly burden. In my case, i just make my mind pre occupied with stitching.

I tried to pre occupy my mind with thoughts or some activity in the house but still i feel the uncomfortably of this PMS. Why on earth does this happen to women, i don't experience this when i was young, well I'm still young i think. But still, can i know how to make this burden stop? Is there some special diet that i can do or some kind of supplement to take?

I would not recommend drugs to pacify the pain, i would suggest however that you do some diverting activities like Ova do.

Regarding to diet, i have some special diet for those women who suffers on PMS

Eat more foods rich in vitamin B6 – much is written in the press about the benefits of taking vitamin B6 to help ease the symptoms of PMS, but to date, there’s still no conclusive proof that it works.

Health experts say that large doses can cause nerve damage so recommend having no more than 10mg vitamin B6 per day in the form of supplements, unless advised otherwise by a health professional.

PMS is a serious thing. I rather not comment on it because I am not a female and would surely, out of respect, leave it only up to the opposite sex to describe what that feeling is really like. I can, however, interpret the side effects of PMS to some degree. Pain, that is unlike any other, would easily describe it to a small extent.

The mood swings that are attributed to it can also be devastating to the unsuspecting male.

Any male that does not know of these moods however, should certainly get wise of the matter, and soon.

I would advise it. I am sure that many women out there would agree with me, wether they are currently PMSing or not. It is quite simply a known fact that most women are a lot more emotional, and can sometimes be very much vicious when on their cycle.

I am not a woman, but I certainly would not agree. Why did God create PMS anyway? Couldn't he have just left all of the things of this tragic world as they would be, minus the clutter?

Is there a "cure" for PMS?

Widespread recognition of PMS has attracted a broad range of research interest in the treatment and management of the symptoms of PMS. Although there is no "cure" for PMS at this time, there are many options in managing its signs and symptoms. The first priority is an accurate diagnosis. Other medical or psychological conditions should be identified and treated.

There are some foods to avoid to prevent PMS

Adjusting your diet to reduce PMS If you think that you may suffer from PMS, you'll probably want to prevent symptoms before they appear or at least reduce them once they occur. You may find that changing your diet helps. According to Self-Help for Premenstural Syndrome, you should be prepared to follow this diet all month long for at least four months. However, this may be impractical on a college student's budget and schedule. The New Ourbodies, Ourselves suggests that it may still be helpful to follow these rules even for only a week before your period.
