Humanity has many unresolved problems that are causing grave discomfort to communities at large. Some have expressed doubts as to whether many of these problems can actually be solved before we ruin ourselves and the planet irreperably. One of these problems is the eating disorder we call "junk food", very appropriatly. Take a walk down Fifth Avenue any day and look into all the fast food restaurants on both sides of the street. Everybody is eating junk food, loads of junk food, and loving it. Also notice something else, 80% or more of the people walking around are obese. Millions are spent every year on medication for Diabetes and heart conditions. Any solutions?

"Fix yourself"
You can chose to pig out on junk food every day or not at all.Making the choice not to is probably the first step and most important step to any self help process!

"Junk food"
You do realize of course that eating junk food is more or less an addiction that is a little tougher than just "deciding" against eating it?Our eating patterns have turned us into sugar maniacs, caffeine lovers, and cravers of fried food. For most of us, the alternative such as eating mostly fresh fruit and vegetables, is not very appealing. We want a big juicy piece of meat. Our bodies crave the fat. How do you even START to get away from that?

"Start with fried foods"
I think your first step would be to cut out fried foods. All kinds, french fries, potato chips, nuts (look for baked nuts). After a few months of not eating fried foods, you'll probably find that the taste if not the smell of them will make you nauseous! The first step is making the decision!

"junk in, junk out"
To respond to how do you start eliminating junk food: try adding something new first. Use a little olive oil instead of butter. Try a natural sweetener like Stevia to replace some sugar. Add some herbs and spices for lots of flavor. Just pick one thing and do that for a while. See how it goes. Deprivation isn't the answer!

I will try that Mamie. Thanks for offering that input. I crave sugar so badly, I will try and get a grip on it. Maybe once I don't eat so much of it, the craving will be less?

"eat fruit"
Keep fruit handy for the sugar cravings... for the fat cravings, slightly heat some coconut oil till it is liquid and put a table spoon in each section of an ice cube tray and freeze it.Then you have some beneficial oils to consume in a tasty form when you get the desire. I wouldn't fry with coconut oil because it keeps you in the mind frame of eating fried foods.

"junk food"
I actually tried the freezing idea Lisa! Believe or not, I actually followed the advice of a dear friend who was trying to help me better my eating habits. The frozen little cubes were delicious and easy to eat, since as they were getting stuff, I stuck a toothpick in each one. I ate it just like a lollipop!
