Comment #2 Jules from Nebraska - I think a lot of people are alcoholics but refuse to think that they are. ~ My aunt would drink everyday but claims that she doesn't have a problem. ~ We were over at her home for a birthday party and she and her husband had gotten into an argument because her husband bought her the wrong kind of vodka. ~ Supposedly her brand was out. ~ They got into a heated argument in the kitchen and he was yelling all kinds of accusations at her about being an alcoholic and she was denying it. ~ We were all shocked. ~ My father (her brother) tried to go in there and talk to her and she refused to speak to him. ~ She did end up going into a rehab facility and has not had a drink for the past 10 years. ~ Comment #3 Loopy from The Big D - I just had to tell yall about this lady I know. ~ She doesn't drink anything but alcolhol. ~ She will not drink a coke, tea, water, etc. ~ The only thing she will drink is coffee, but it has to have something like Baileys in it. ~ I feel bad for her son and daughter. ~ Plus she has a granddaughter. ~ I can't even tell that she is drunk. ~ You would not believe how much she has to drink to get drunk. ~ It just makes me sad. Comment #4 JLH (63.176.159.235) - Everyone on my father's side o the family is an alcoholic and guess what? I am an addict. My whole life i tried not drinking because i thought that if i didn't drink i would b able to become a productive mmber of society but i ended up getting in to drugs really bad and have been to rehab 4 times at the age of 19. Comment #5 Sharron (63.176.159.37) - Alcoholism is a dangerous addiction. It can be dangerous to the person drinking and everyone around them. It's amazing how drugs and alcohol can change people. Comment #6 Zarren (63.176.159.23) - As I've read your replies and response to this alcohol addiction, I can't help but feel bad for you. Well, this is what the normal reaction that would yield from these posts. Imagine a whole family addicted to alcohol? A man, as he avoid being involved with alcohol eventually got hooked to drugs which is far more worse than alcohol. I believe alcohol in proper moderation is not that bad but with addiction it can be a nightmare. Comment #7 ramyam from - Drug Addiction will spoil our health and out family also, Alcohol is like poison it is very dangerous to our health , avoid use this poison ... Comment #8 Greg (63.176.159.165) - I took this class in college called drugs and their physical/mental effects on the human body. In this class we learned everything you could want to know about drugs/alcohol/addiction. In this class we were taught that out of EVERYTHING in the world you may become addicted to, and withdrawl from, ALCOHOL, is the ONLY withdrawl you can die from. The one legal drug that we are allowed to buy can kill you from withdrawls, sad, I know. Comment #9 Bianca (63.176.159.174) - Greg once your inclined with alcohol it is really hard to get over it. Not only with alcohol but many more agents that we usually abuse. But the thing is you take one step at a time. Little by little you will find yourself out of that alcohol abusive phase that you are once into. Comment #10 shanil (59.97.35.152) - ervery day me and my friends using alcohol. But we have our limitation Comment #11 Angus (63.176.159.97) - One thing I always heard in my college days when I was at parties and such was "Its not alcoholism until after college." Comment #12 crystal from asia - any are drinkers so I wonder. I tried to drink some but I don't like its taste. How come many are addicted to it? I cant relate to them. But I know, others just drink because it's like a trend in the society while others use it as a form of escape. Comment #13 Mandy (63.176.159.187) - I agree with Crystal, i also wonder why lots of people are so into drinking alcohol when it taste awfully bitter and smells disgusting as well. Aside from that, you are expecting to feel discomfort afterward which they call hangovers, still they drink alcohol till the last drop.. I think it is the societal call that makes them drink actually.. Just to be "in" they tend to drink those stinking drinks.. Comment #14 Pablo (63.176.159.234) - As Wiki says: it can be social, emotional or genetic, or all three. Letīs not think, though, that additions are only to alcohol! Many people are not addicted chemically, but emotionally. They get addicted to controlling and manipulating, and become tyrants. Others become addicted to their (supposed) beauty and/or intelligence, and develop narcissistic tendencies. All sorts of stuff. Chemical addictions create "artificial" happiness, happiness is what we all want, but by drinking alcohol those old "endorfins" swarm the brain and "create" happiness momentarily. Ultimately itīs a question of projecting our "selves" as permanent, solid, tangible and lasting fixtures when we really are only an "idea" hastly painted on the fabric of reality. Thatīs the ultimate addition, to our "selves". Comment #15 pale_o (63.176.159.21) - Alcoholism is a bad habit. Effects that it has to one's brain are at the very least tragic. Some good news is that it is a condition that can easily be reversed. Comment #16 crystal from asia - yeah right Mandy. But alcohol is better than smoking because beer has malt which has Vitamin B. If I will drink, I prefer red wine. It has health benefits and I love those red wines mixed with fruits. It tastes sweet and Is healthy. Comment #17 moy (63.176.159.231) - Right on point crystal. No one ever chooses to be addicted. It arises out of wanting to follow the flow. A person's personality will also determine how much self control would come into play considering drinking habits. I do not think alcohol has anything to do with heredity but just habits that become passed on from one generation to the next. The choice to drink or not rests on an individual. Alcoholism is a bad disease! Do not however swear that you cannot taste alcohol.. Comment #18 kispe (63.176.159.146) - Then again, what happened to having complete control over the events that dictate what one's life is all about? Comment #19 Eve (63.176.159.145) - For anyone that has ever thought that alcohol was not really a drug, they would really need to reconsider their stance again. Maybe again and again, after that as well, because alcohol should always be considered as much of a drug as cocaine. Comment #20 Eve (63.176.159.164) - As much of a drug a cigarette should alcohol be considered as. Cigarettes are amazingly terrible to the health of any single person and this is why it can be considered as much of a drug as cocaine or alcohol, because aside from the health issues, many people just cannot seem to leave it alone. Comment #21 Rency (63.176.159.58) - Drug problems, this problem seems to be the most impossible problem to remove in our society. I can feel that this problem would even get much worse in the future. Comment #22 Eve (63.176.159.56) - Refraining alone, unfortunately, is not going to help the situation as much as one should think. An attempt to simply eradicate the world of the problem is not going to guarantee good riddens. We need to think about the type of control that the hidden dictators of the world are consumed with, the type of power that drive them to leave things just the way things are. Comment #23 Aiza (63.176.159.144) - Who knows, only time can tell if this problem can be totally eradicated. I have to agree on Rency, I think little by little you can we can still make all those bad things and all those substance abuse no matter what they are all history. Little by little this is possible, that is, if only people would got the drive to do so. Have a good day everyone. Smile. • Page 1 (Original Post) •
