It is so sad to see that most of the people are teens. Our kids are growing up in a cruel world where drugs are widely used. I am always rooting for the addicts to finish their intervention and stay clean. But, the odds are not good. So so sad! Comment #1 Karen from Southwest (Contact Member) - I've seen a couple of people who were on the show appear on Oprah. I was really moved by some of the courage that these people faced. It was amazing. It's so sad to see some of the innocent kids that get affected by their parents' addiction as well. Comment #2 stacey from victoria, canada (Contact Member) - That's so funny! I *just* finished watching that show! It was the one about that girl who was a crystal meth addict, and kept laughing at her family while they tried to tell her how her drug abuse was affecting them. So sad. My boyfriend is a recovering meth addict so it was really bothersome for him and said he could see how she could be so 'far off' to do that to her family. Thankfully he has been clean for a long while but i sometimes get nervous. How can you not? Comment #3 snowbird from The Frozen Tundra (Contact Member) - When I am channel flipping I will watch it when I come across it. I like the show. I only wish it was around when my mother was alive. Comment #4 The Kid's Got Style from over there (Contact Member) - I first found out about this show when I was struggling with an Oxycontin addiction (and still am), and I also got my parents into it as well. I'm 20 years old and have been an addict since I was about 17-18 years old, and this show moved me to the point of checking myself into treatment. It has been over a year since I was in treatment, and I'm amazed to see how well most of these people do while combating their addictions. While opiates are so incredibly difficult to kick, the support from my family (thanks to this show) has been enough to keep me clean for over a year now. I urge anyone with a drug/alcohol problem to watch this show and actually WATCH. Absorb what the interventionists have to say. Comment #5 glenda barber from canada (Contact Member) - I MISSED THE SHOW AND WOULD LIKE TO SEE IT AFTER HAVING HEARD ABOUT THE CONTENT HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? Comment #6 andreea from romania (Contact Member) - I like this show as well. It is nice to see people in need of a drug rehab facility getting help, and having some hoe in the future. But too bad that it`s not anymore. Comment #7 Sanz from Malysia (63.176.159.22) - I haven't seen the "Intervention" show, well basing on the comment of you guys about the show and addiction, it is indeed saddening that some individual's way of dealing with their issues and affairs is through addiction. Maybe this is the price the American's has to pay for being so liberal and not being a family-oriented nation. That is why I am still happy to be an Asian because we have these deep-rooted moral ground. We don't let our sons and daughters go independent as much as possible when they turn 18. Under constant communication and parental supervision can the young avoid being addicted to drugs. Comment #8 Randy (63.176.159.121) - I have watched the show. I think it is a bad idea to be on air.. If this was all done in private I think it would have a better chance of helping people with their addiction.. Comment #9 Dustin (63.176.159.236) - If you like the show Intervention you would probably like the show Celebrity Rehab as well. Check it out. Comment #10 Jimmy (63.176.159.89) - I enjoy watching this sow very much because i am also an addict and it is a sign of hope that i too can recover from the disease of addiction. Comment #11 Dustin (63.176.159.146) - Glenda, you said you would like to watch old tv shows.. go online and search for them. you should be able to watch them from your pc. Comment #12 Lynn (63.176.159.226) - Oh my gosh, I am so addicted to this show! I need an intervention for the show intervention. I, myself am not a drug user or have I ever been. Both my husband and I, and our daughter who is 14 love to watch this show every monday, and I feel that by watching this with our daughter it will prevent her from ever doing drugs because she sees these real life situations and sees what it does to the users and the family. I am so glad I am not the only one who is addicted to this show. Comment #13 Geri (63.176.159.134) - The show Intervention isn't a bad show it's just too bad that so many of those people start doing drugs again. Comment #14 Katie (63.176.159.63) - I love this show so much. I used to be a bad pill user. I love watching these stories of how people can recover, and become so strong. It is also very sad at the same time to see what some people do to their families. I never was that bad, and I am glad I would never let something take over my life like that. Comment #15 sydney (119.82.66.18) - Yeah, that's true that Everyday in Washington D.C. there are tens of thousands of people that are suffering from problems with drug and alcohol abuse. Unfortunately drug and alcohol abuse contribute to many of the city’s problems involving crime and injury. In past years the city has much of the focus on preventing crime rather than attacking the root of the problem and creating programs for substance abuse treatment and intervention in Washington D.C. The good news is that there are a ton of great programs in Washington that will allow people that are suffering from these problems to get the help that they desperately need. Comment #16 mukesh (59.95.160.21) - Sniff Dogs was founded by two mothers of teenage boys. They have first hand, street level, understanding of the availability of education and tools to assist them in raising drug free children and also have witnessed the pervasive use and impact of drugs in the workplace. Debra founded Sniff Dogs when she experienced the complexities of monitoring her sons. Debra's son was caught with marijuana associated with a traffic violation. While that realization was an eye opener, the fact that there was such a lack of in home drug prevention tools available motivated her to launch Sniff Dogs. She wanted to provide parents with the same tools law enforcement and schools use to monitor for drug possession, however, without engaging law enforcement or school administration. With research found reliability of in home drug testing questionable and too conflict based. Debra knew if parents were empowered to implement drug prevention discreetly and within the privacy of their home it may be a catalyst for action. Comment #17 Lisa from Oklahoma City (Contact Member) - That has what to do with the TV Show Intervention? Why didn't you start a new topic for your post? I see you are in India and your website is in MA... maybe "Drug Intervention Massachusetts" didn't pay you enough to do a decent job of promotion? Comment #18 Sam (63.176.159.4) - Is there anywhere online that I can watch older episodes of Intervention? I've tried searching it, but I've had no luck.. Comment #19 Theresa Quinones (173.55.117.79) - PLEASE ANYONE!! I have a daughter 23 years of age and I have tried everything that I know to help her and nothing works. She is smoking pot and uses crack cocaine. I am sure I lost my daughter to all this since she was 14 years old. I try giving her a place to stay, she tears it up, brings drug addicts in at night after I'm in bed. She is ever so nasty to me and all her family around her. She thinks everyone is out to get her. Anyone who can help me, please direct me to some help. I work 12 hours a day because I am the only parent. Divorced her father because of drugs Comment #20 Mike (63.176.159.149) - Theresa it seems you are between a rock and a hard place. Maybe by trying to repeatedly give her a place to stay she has become used to free handouts in life. Comment #21 William (63.176.159.168) - Dear Theresa: I really feel for you. I can tell you what my daughter did with her son when she found out about his addiction. Of course, She consulted with a specialist, a place called "Al Anon" that deals with addctions. Well she threw him out and told him never to return in that state again. This has to be faced with extreme measures or the addicts will manipulate you to death and take advantage of your kindness and love. My daughter was told to wipe him out in no uncertain terms. She packed his bags and "out"! It worked too, he started attending therapy sessions and today he is clean and tells her how much he owes her. Comment #22 moy (63.176.159.9) - I am sure it would be interesting to watch a reality show because it points to the fact that certain things that are normally deemed 'impossible' actually turn out to be workable. A case in point is Theresa. Indeed, it is a sad case that you have that feeling that you have lost your daughter. Comment #23 TV Geek (63.176.159.105) - For those people who are not acquainted with "Intervention": Comment #24 eve (63.176.159.177) - Sat Jan 9 16:09:34 2010 They have said it time and again, TV will rot your brain. You know what? They hadn't been lying, not one time. We need to remember that reading is always a better way to get the mind working, rather than let a picture be shown to you, exactly how it is that someone would like for you to see. It is the interpretation of events factor that counts in the end. • Page 1 (Original Post) • Page 2 (Newest Replies) •
